Celebrating a family member

I do thank my mum for sharing all these family traditions when I was growing up. I still really appreciate celebrating birthdays for example. My husband don't, who cares! For his birthday I prepared a nice card for with a secret gift and of course a tasteful meal. The first one to be eaten outside this year! We started off with a rich "aperitif" (this wonderful french tradition), with champagne in big glasses with strawberries and loads of different snacks for all tastes. For a starter I had chosen a fish paté with crayfish and grapefruit married with a nice creamy mustard sauce (and a lemon twist!). As a main course we enjoyed fresh grilled tuna on a bed of noodles with a choice of spicy sauces. I must tell we had the last bottle of Chablis grand Cru Valmur with the fish, délice!! No cheese today, straight on to a variety of different cakes fruit, chocolate, creme ... Happy birthday dear! Next time it's my turn!!

Happy easter

After a long winter the sun came out, finally. And so did my envie to blog again! The french part of the family had a traditional easter meal with lamb, baked potaoes, gravy ... I was happy with my grilled salmon it's veggies. After that we enjoyed a generous local cheeseplate and finished off with a rasberry tart, all in good company of great wines of course! Crémant du Bourgogne, Macon (white) and a red Pinot from the Beaune area. Enjoy the sun!
